SO, ABOUT ME...

Thanks for asking! I'm a script and web copywriter, a teacher and writer of film, TV, video games, theater, comic books, fiction, pop culture reviews,  and I've also produced and directed independent features/shorts, live theater, and the Boston 48 Hour Film Project.

As for my background: after graduating from production assistant to co-scripter of the Troma, Inc. cult classic Sgt. Kabukiman, NYPD, I moved to Los Angeles, where I became an in-house script doctor for MPCA/Orion, writing screenplays of all genres, including the HBO Original Movies Soldier Boyz (uncredited) and Behind Enemy Lines (but not the one with Owen Wilson). I also wrote and designed several movie-based games for the company’s interactive division, including the murder mystery title Blue Heat, starring Elliot Gould and Paul Sorvino.

In 1994, I wrote, produced and directed the 16mm indie feature Apocalypse Bop (Phaedra Cinema/EI Independent Cinema).

In 1999, I wrote the original screenplay Dramarama for Warner Bros., which almost (but not quite) became a Lindsay Lohan vehicle (just before Ms. Lohan started having trouble with her vehicles).

In 2000 and 2005, I co-wrote the independent features On_Line and The F Word with director Jed Weintrob, which premiered at the Sundance and Tribeca Film Festivals, respectively, followed by an unproduced collaboration for Michael Douglas's Further Films.

More recently, I was a web series writer for Wired and Vanity Fair and scripted the Eisner-nominated Image Comics title Blue Estate (plus a tie-in video game).  My other credits include the novel Building Heaven, the plays No Love (Eclectic Company Theatre, North Hollywood, CA) and Special (Theatre of NOTE, Hollywood, CA), and work on numerous other TV and film scripts, comic books, computer games, theatrical productions, and a 2008 Daytime Emmy as part of the writing staff for the Discovery Channel show Cash Cab.

As a copywriter, I've worked for companies including Dunkin', Baskin-Robbins, T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, PetEdge, and EZD Productions, with additional magazine and web material for Cracked, The National Lampoon, Bart Simpson's Fun Pages, Nerve.com, CultureVulture.net, and ForcesOfGeek.com.

My screenplay consulting service is NewEnglandScreenwriters.com and my teaching background includes past and current classes in writing, filmmaking, and acting at UCLA Extension, Tufts University, Quincy College, Boston Casting, The Burt Wood School of Performing Arts, the Cambridge Center for Adult Education, and Brookline Adult Education.

I currently live in Somerville, MA with my wife and cat (but I'm always happy to travel)!
